Your Life FAQ’s
Below are some common questions regarding life coaching.
1. What exactly is a Life Coach?
Coaching has been around for ages. Sports teams in particular know the value of having a person dedicated to motivating, encouraging and inspiring others to do great things. Business executives have often utilized coaches in the area of leadership development, but anyone can benefit from a Life Coach. If you have a life, then you can have a coach!
A coach is someone you can utilize as a resource for learning new skills, developing ideas or gaining new insights. But most importantly, a coach is someone who works with your best interests in mind as you seek to realize your dreams and ambitions in your journey through life.
While your coach may have training in, or significant insight into, human psychology, a coach is not a counselor or therapist. A coach will not address emotional issues or injuries. (A good coach may, however, be able to refer you to a qualified therapist who can address those types of issues.)
The bottom line is that a coach can help anyone set and achieve better goals, improve performance, increase self-awareness, make a transition, improve the quality of his/her life and create a more balanced life.
2. What can a Life Coach do for me?
As a professional Life Coach, I will work with you to set and clarify realistic goals, create action plans for achieving them and act as an accountability partner to keep you on track and help you overcome the inevitable challenges that you will face along the way.
Unlike a counselor or therapist who may focus on past events and how to overcome the resulting associations, I will focus on where you are today, where you want to go and how to get you there. In doing so, I can help you to gain new skills and insights, change limiting behaviors into empowering ones and help you to use the God-given talents you were born with (and still have inside you) to your best advantage.
An important point to remember: While I can assist you in identifying, clarifying and setting effective goals, I cannot guarantee that you will achieve them. To achieve anything in life requires a commitment to action on your part. What I can guarantee is that if you do not reach your goal, you will know why and then I can help you to learn from and overcome the challenges or barriers that prevented you from realizing your desired results.
3. How long is a coaching appointment?
Typically, a coaching appointment over the telephone or via Skype is in 30-minute to one-hour increments. Depending on your needs and situation, these sessions may take place on a weekly basis, a semi-annual basis, as needed, or anywhere in between. The standard schedule for most clients is one session every week or bi-weekly. Regardless of the schedule that you choose, I will assist you in a manner that is best for you!

4. How do I get started?
Simply call me at (970) 593-1848 to set your initial appointment. At that time, we will discuss your specific needs and goals. The next step may be a Managing for Success Report, which will give you insight into your strengths and weaknesses. Then, we schedule regular appointments to keep you on track and achieve your goals.
5. What is a Managing for Success Report?
A Managing for Success Report is a behavior assessment tool that utilizes DISC as its methodology. In a nutshell, you take a short questionnaire, answering the questions honestly and openly. The computerized process will then produce a customized report for YOUR unique personality style. This gives your Coach incredible insight into what motivates you, how you communicate and what time traps you might fall into…all of which can help you in reaching your goals quicker.
